Why Travel Insurance Should be a Must and not a Maybe

“Do we really need it? We’ve never had to use it.”

If I had a dollar for every time someone said this to us I’d be a rich person (maybe not rich but you know what I mean). This is the most common phrase we hear when we ask clients if they will be purchasing travel insurance and I’m here to tell you why insurance should not even be an option but rather mandatory.

A couple years ago we had a couple traveling to Greece for their anniversary who had spent about ten thousand dollars on their trip. On the day of their flight they went out for a family dinner and as they were walking back to the car to go to the airport the gentleman stepped the wrong way and suddenly tore his knee. Needless to say he was unable to walk, let alone travel. Thankfully they had purchased insurance and with all the appropriate documentation were able to recoup all of their money from the insurance company.

Not too long ago we had a family of two adults and one child who were traveling to France and had spent almost twenty thousand dollars on their multi-city trip. They arrived at the airport in Boston all excited, checked in, went through security and were just hanging around waiting when the mother and child suddenly got chills, fever, vomiting, and diarrhea (hey it’s the truth). This was literally right before they were going to board the plane. Long story short they left and immediately went to urgent care and were obviously forced to postpone their trip. If they did not have insurance they would not have recouped their money.

The moral of all these stories (and we could go on for days) is simple—THINGS HAPPEN and they usually happen when we least expect it. Save yourself the headache, aggravation, and your pocket in the long run by purchasing at the very least Worldwide Trip Protector Insurance.
